Our Community Newsletter

The Upper Tweed Community News is published quarterly in March, June, September and December.  It is sold in Broughton at the Garage, Broughton Stores and Laurel Bank Tea Room.

We welcome articles and notices on any local subjects or events and these should be sent to the editor by the 12th day of the month before publication.

We provide advertising space for local tradesmen, services and suppliers and also invite sponsors for each issue.

The money generated from the sale of the Community News funds a Hospital Drivers' Scheme (see Local Directory), which provides transport for residents of Upper Tweed who have hospital appointments but who do not have transport themselves or anyone to drive them.  The patient pays a contibution to the cost of the journey and the volunteer driver is reimbursed at a higher rate by the Community News.  Any further surplus funds are donated to worthwhile causes within the Upper Tweed community.

The Community News also organises and funds a Newcomers' Party each autumn to introduce people who have come to live in Upper Tweed  and Skirling during the past year to local residents who are involved with the local activities and organisations
