The road running north - south is the A701 Edinburgh to Moffat.
Broughton is about 25 miles south west of Edinburgh, 25 miles north of Moffat and 5 miles north of Tweedsmuir.
Biggar lies 5 miles to the north west via the B7016.
Peebles is about 12 miles north east via Drumelzier and Stobo on the B712/A72 .

Directions

From Glasgow the best route is down the M74 leaving at Junction 11 (Happendon Services).

From the south, travelling on the M6/M74, leave the M74 at Junction 15 (Beattock)

From the east coast of Scotland, north of Edinburgh, take the Edinburgh bypass (A 720) and join the A702 at Lothianburn. At a three-way junction take the middle road (A703) which leads to the A701.

From the east coast of Scotland, south of Edinburgh, it is better (at least it is less stressful unless you are intent sight-seeing) to take the A1 to the Edinburgh bypass (A 720) and join the A701 south at the Straiton Junction.

If you are traveling from England up the A1 the best route is across the A66 at Scotch Corner and join the M6 at Penrith.
